PLAY DEAD

I can’t really tell you what this play is about but I can tell you that I want to expereience it.  When I say experience, I mean this play is apparently not like others.  I believe most of it is in the dark and you react to low lighting, sound effects and some other funny and scary stuff as you sit in the dark.

Again I don’t really know what its about but I’ve seen enough already to know I’d like it.  Does anyone want to give me tickets to this show?

Kinda sounds like when the power goes out during a school assembly or something.

Anyway I hate plays but think I’ll love this one.  All I have to do now is convince the lady to go.

Reminds me of the events that happen around the best holiday ever, Halloween

Can’t wait until this is released on DVD, there will be good times in front of the idiot box.

THIS MOVIE IS THE SHIT!!!!  Yes, yes, yes, I know…..”House Party” is the best movie from Kid N Play (and one of the best hip-hop movies!)  But Class Act if the most slept on!  I’m telling you i know all the words, I’ve had “Class Act” parties and still quote this movie at least once a week. (okay, maybe not that often)  Anyway if you watch this movie and don’t enjoy how silly it is, than punch yourself in the face!

The original is far better then the remake that came out last year, of course.  Even though I didn’t get a chance to watch this in an appropriate atmosphere, I really enjoyed watching this one. (started watching this one as my wife got her nails done. and finished in the airport.)  The opening scene sucks you in pretty good and holds you until the end of the film I stayed on the edge of my airport seat.  But again it is a movie that came from the same guy who made “Night of the Living Dead.”  Don’t get me wrong the remake had some cool parts in it, but it misses the heart of the first one, and the ending has been altered which also makes it suck more than the original.  If nothing else, watch em both back to back, but if you have to choose one, please make it the original.

The Doppelgangaz

I”ve downloaded their album, I fucks wit it heavy too.  its real dirty and raw hip hop.  Think Das Efx or Cella Dwellas.  Plus I read that they do their shows with capes on holding candles, anyone wearing a cape on stage is cool in my book.  Anyway they rock hard (pause) only problem is I have no idea what they are talking about, I just can’t figure it out.  I read their bio but it didn’t help, I left it below.

The Doppelgangaz Bio

From parts unknown dwell the ghastly duo. Matter ov Fact & EP are noted to be the last two descendants of the Rap Lords, summoned to the earth for purposes of wreaking havoc. Doing so with raw word connection over warm, gritty soundscapes, the groggy pack have been spotted smoking microphone devices in the New York Metropolitan area. No word has been said to confirm their whereabouts, but eye witnessed accounts of the short man and height man (with no hype man) sharking, frequenting brothels and boisterously blaring their art from random locations have been documented. Some say they are adorned in black cloaks as others have sworn they recognized the two donning the clothes of civilians. Regardless, The Doppelgangaz prefer anonymity alongside the creation of raw substance.

I love my wife, she gives me super powers in a world of war.

"Who I sleep with is my own personal business"
"Nah, man, no, who you sleep with
The first face you see in the mornin
Is very, significant, man, that's where you get your energy from
It's your mirror, can you dig it?"
-Five on the Black Hand Side"

Now I thought I was a bit familiar with the blaxplotation films of the 70’s.  But that’s life right? As soon as you think you have something figured out, your proven that you never knew anything in the first place. (That’s why I liked science and math when i was younger, there can only be one answer.)  Well I’d have to say I hadn’t seen this movie before but I’m gonna go ahead and say check it out!  Its funny I heard a few lines from this movie from a hip hop record and decided to see if I could find out where it was from and its from “Five On the Black Hand Side”.

This IS the reason why I like hip hop, its use of recycling is amazing.   Its a true talent and I respect all those who go “diggin in the crates”.   While everyone knows the movies like Shaft and Superfly, many, like myself, aren’t familiar with the many films made in that time with strong political themes.  That’s why I enjoy the roaring 20’s, the 60/70’s and the early 90’s.  It was a time where black people were really searching for themselves.  It was a time of fun but also a time of awareness for self.  Never stop fighting the Man! (whoever he/she/they are.)

Quote from movie:

Okay so I gotta stop smoking cigarettes again.  I stopped for a month back in the fall cold turkey.  I didn’t think it was to bad but my wife said I was just an angry toad and she left me for the weekend to hang out with her homegirl.  She NEVER goes out without me so I know I must have been a grumpy poop head in order for her to leave, even though I didn’t think I was.  Anyway believe it or not it was going okay but do you know what I had for breakfast instead of my cig routine?  Mc Donald’s breakfast!  The number 3 with a a large orange juice, an extra sandwich and strawberry jelly to be exact.

I love breakfast food, I’d eat it all day, three meals a day if I could.  But I don’t like the breakfast sandwiches that you can find at your local deli.  Pancakes are at the top of my list of breakfast foods but I work with computers and am expected to eat at my desk (in case the world stops, so I can immediately restart it), so anything eaten with a fork and knife won’t work, but guess what does?  Mc Donald’s breakfast!  The number 3 with a a large orange juice, an extra sandwich and strawberry jelly to be exact.

So now I have a new problem that is just as worst as the first, Mc Donald’s breakfast everyday, and I don’t want anything else.  So anyway, I’ve been off the wagon since November and with the pressure of my family its time to stop again.  The only problem is guess what I’ll be back to eating?  Mc Donald’s breakfast!  The number 3 with a a large orange juice, an extra sandwich and strawberry jelly to be exact!

Got a road trip this weekend with the wife, hitting up DC, Baltimore and Philly in two days, should be an adventure.   At least it looks like the snow is behind us now and I’m ready to drop the top, to bad I don’t have a top to drop but if i did, I’d throw on Too Short’s “Shorty The Pimp” from 1992.

The hip hop I usually lean toward is that East Coast “boom bat”.  Not to say that I don’t listen to West Coast stuff, I’m a big fan of MC Eiht, NWA, E-40, of course I had most of the Deathrow releases, and the pre-Deathrow 2pac is the best stuff he’d ever made.   There’s more artists from the West that I also listen but I’ve never heard Too Short’s Shorty The Pimp” album until this week, and I’m kinda mad at myself for that, cause this shit rocks!

Anyway this weekend when the lady and I are going up and down 95, when its my time to drive, I may have to roll down the windows, turn the bass up and slip this album on.  Or maybe just have it on low but think its loud while she reads off her Nook, we’ll see.

So I bought the ill ass Jordan Spiz’ike’s last year and just got the Jordan Rair Air’s in December.  I’ve got into some trouble over the past summer with my wife cause I spent all this money on them and don’t wear them.  Well after this crazy, the world is coming to an end winter, I am itching to pull a pair out….. but it can’t snow, rain, no sand, no gravel and sometimes no driving (to delay the creases).  And anyone on a bike with a Celtics jersey on I’m getting the F out the way!
